KBL Round 33 (Regular Season): Leader LG Sakers get another victory

Leader Sakers delivered the twenty fifth win on Saturday night. This time they beat 8th ranked Mobis Phoebus (13-24) 76-65 in Changwon. The best player for the winners was Egyptian center Assem Marei (206-1992, college: MSU) who had a double-double by scoring 22 points, 13 rebounds and 4 assists. International guard Ki-sang Yu (188-2001) chipped in 24 points. At the other side the best for losing team was the former international guard Moobeen Park (185-2001) who recorded 15 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Defending champion maintains first place with 25-11 record. Mobis Phoebus lost third consecutive game. They keep the eighth position with 24 games lost. LG Sakers are looking forward to face Seoul Thunders (#9) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Mobis Phoebus will play against Seoul Knights and are hoping to prove to their supporters that they can break losing series.
The game in Ulsan was also worth to mention about. Second ranked Anyang (24-13) played at the court of 8th ranked Mobis Phoebus (13-24). Anyang defeated Mobis Phoebus 88-73. It was a good game for American power forward Johnny OBryant III (207-1993, college: LSU, agency: Slash Sports) who led his team to a victory with 23 points and 7 rebounds. Bryce Washington contributed with 10 points and 12 rebounds for the winners. The former international center Seounghyun Lee (201-1992) answered with 19 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists for Mobis Phoebus. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Anyang maintains second place with 24-13 record behind leader LG Sakers, which they share with Wonju DB. Mobis Phoebus lost third consecutive game. They keep the eighth position with 24 games lost. Anyang will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Mobis Phoebus will play on the road against Seoul Knights (#4) and hope to get back on the winning track.
The game in Busan was also quite interesting. Third ranked Wonju DB (24-13) played at the court of 5th ranked Sonicboom (19-18). Wonju DB managed to secure a 7-point victory 96-89 on Sunday. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Sonicboom. Henry Ellenson stepped up and scored 20 points and 9 rebounds for the winners. The best for the losing side was Derrick Williams with 25 points and 6 rebounds. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Wonju DB have a solid series of three victories in a row. They moved-up to second place, which they share with Anyang. Suwon KT at the other side keeps the fifth position with 18 games lost. Wonju DB will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Suwon KT will play against the league's leader LG Sakers (#1) in Changwon and hope to secure a win.

Other games of round 33 were quite predictable and ended without any surprises. Here they are:
Seoul Thunders were defeated by KCC Egis in Busan 103-90. Seoul Knights smashed Sono SG at home 79-59. Bottom-ranked Daegu lost to Sono SG on the opponent's court 62-80.

KCC Egis - Seoul Thunders 103-90

There was no surprise in Busan where 9th ranked Samsung Thunders (12-24) were defeated by sixth ranked Egis (18-18) 103-90 on Saturday. KCC Egis outrebounded Seoul Thunders 40-24 including a 31-19 advantage in defensive rebounds. KCC Egis looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. American forward Shawn Long (208-1993, college: Louisiana, agency: Pensack Sports) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 20 points, 14 rebounds and 5 assists (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) for the winners and the former international guard Ung Heo (183-1993) chipped in 29 points and 5 assists. Four Egis players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was Turkish power forward Kerem Kanter (208-1995, college: Xavier) with 23 points and 6 rebounds and Kwan-hee Lee (-1988) scored 14 points. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. KCC Egis maintains sixth place with 18-18 record. Seoul Thunders at the other side keep the ninth position with 24 games lost. KCC Egis will meet Sono SG (#7) in the next round. No shocking result in a game in Seoul where fourth ranked Knights (22-14) smashed 7th ranked Skygunners (15-22) 79-59 on Saturday. Seoul Knights outrebounded Sono SG 49-31 including a 35-19 advantage in defensive rebounds. American center Jameel Warney (203-1994, college: Stony Brook) stepped up and scored 21 points and 9 rebounds for the winners and the former international guard Nakhyeon Kim (180-1995) chipped in 3 points, 10 rebounds and 7 assists. The best for the losing side was Filipino Kevin Quiambao (193-2001) with 22 points and forward Jeong-Hyeon Lee (187-1999) scored 14 points. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Knights have a solid series of three victories in a row. Seoul Knights maintains fourth place with 22-14 record.
